RS Group again entrusted us with designing and delivering innovative, multi-functional exhibition stands for their flagship events: SPS (Smart Production Solutions) in Nuremberg and Electronica in Munich, November 2024. These stands needed to reflect the RS Group brand cohesively across two different audience types and stand sizes while being adaptable for reuse over the next three years, in line with RS Group’s sustainability objectives.

About SPS and Electronica.

SPS is a premier annual event dedicated to automation technologies in Nuremberg, Germany. In 2024, it attracted over 51,000 trade visitors and 1,114 exhibitors, spanning an impressive 125,000 sqm. The event serves as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing within the tech industry.

Electronica, held bi-annually in Munich, is the global stage for electronic technologies, products, and solutions. The 2024 edition hosted nearly 80,000 visitors and exhibitors from 59 countries, showcasing cutting-edge research and trends across 192,000 sqm. Known for its international reach, Electronica is a critical source of inspiration for industry professionals worldwide.

Design Objectives

  • Adaptability: Develop stand designs that seamlessly cater to two distinct events running concurrently and are scalable for future use across European markets.
  • Sustainability: Incorporate reusable components to reduce waste, align with RS Group’s sustainability goals, and achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Functionality: Design stands with integrated storage solutions to maintain a clean, organised aesthetic, to conceal equipment and supplies.
  • Brand Visibility: Strengthen RS Group’s brand identity with clear, impactful messaging to effectively engage new and existing audiences.

SPS Stand Design

For SPS we created a 140 sqm stand with a height of 4 metres. The design balanced functionality with an open, inviting layout.

  • Multi-Purpose Layout: The stand supported product demonstrations, on-stand sales, and product displays, with a back wall for showcasing solutions. Open sides ensured easy access and avoided any sense of enclosure.
  • Enhanced Branding: Feedback from the 2023 stand highlighted the need for clearer RS branding, so the 2024 version featured bold visuals and a stronger messaging strategy.
  • Sustainability Focus: The stand was designed to be scalable, allowing for future repurposing into smaller formats, such as a 50 sqm version.
  • Build and Execution: The stand required a 7-day build and on-site support during the 3 live event days, ensuring flawless delivery and operations.

The SPS stand successfully showcased RS Group’s product solutions while driving brand awareness among new audiences.

Electronica Stand Design

For Electronica, we developed a 252 sqm stand (14m x 18m) with a height of 6 metres, designed to cater to a tech-savvy, electronics-focused audience.

  • Digital-First Approach: The design featured minimal physical products, prioritising digital solutions to captivate the audience.
  • Open Accessibility: The stand was open on all sides, encouraging free-flowing visitor engagement.
  • Functional Spaces: Meeting rooms facilitated 50 supplier meetings during the show, while a coffee bike, branded catering, and on-stand hospitality created a welcoming environment for clients.
  • Partnership Features: Dedicated areas for partnering brands and on-stand solution demonstrations were integrated seamlessly. A highlight was The Washing Machine Project area, showcasing RS Group’s partner project with interactive demos.
  • Scalable Design: The stand was engineered for future repurposing into a 100 sqm version, ensuring long-term usability and alignment with RS Group’s sustainability goals.
  • Lead Capture: The primary focus was on meaningful interactions and high-quality lead capture, positioning RS Group as a leader in the electronics industry.

The stand build required 7 days, with operational support across the 4 live days of the exhibition.

Key Achievements

  • Sustainability: Delivered designs that reduced waste and supported RS Group’s long-term sustainability targets.
  • Flexibility: Created adaptable, multi-functional stands that catered to two distinct audiences and event formats within the same week.
  • Brand Impact: Enhanced RS Group’s brand visibility, reinforcing their leadership in automation and electronics.
  • Functionality: Designed scalable stands that seamlessly balanced aesthetics and practicality, ensuring continued value over three years.

This project showcased our ability to blend creativity, innovation, and sustainability to deliver impactful exhibition solutions. The stands successfully amplified RS Group’s brand presence, resonated with diverse audiences, and provided lasting value through the ability to repurpose each design. By aligning with RS Group’s sustainability and branding goals, we set a benchmark for multi-functional, future-focused stand designs in live events and exhibitions.
