Celebrating Sustainability

In July 2024, Primary was proud to support the prestigious BREEAM Awards – a global celebration of sustainable building projects and innovations – held at the iconic Peninsula London.

A New Partnership, Built on Experience.

This project marked the beginning of a new client relationship, sparked by a long-standing industry connection and our reputation for collaboration and consistent delivery. With a return to a live format after a short hiatus, this black-tie gala event brought together 200 sustainability leaders and stakeholders from across the globe.

Our Role

We were entrusted with event production and delivery, managing key elements including:

• Full set and stage design
• AV, lighting, and sound delivery
• Keynote speaker and entertainment management, including a live band
• Photographer and videographer
• On-site registration and front-of-house support

The venue, The Peninsula London, was selected not only for its luxury and central location, but also because it holds its own BREEAM certification, perfectly aligning with the event’s ethos.

Creative Solutions to Complex Challenges

With high-spec requirements and a tight one-day schedule, our team faced two key challenges:

• Tight Load-In Times
  Due to The Peninsula’s busy operations and restrictive delivery windows, we scheduled a 3AM load with a double crew setup to stay within budget and avoid costly venue hire for an additional day.
• UEFA Euro 2024 Semi-Final Conflict
  Just days before the event, England and the Netherlands were confirmed to play their semi-final during the awards. Aware of the audience’s likely national interest, we proposed options to the client. The solution adjusted the schedule and streamed the match silently post-awards, incorporating custom match-themed visuals that blended with BREEAM branding. This ensured all attendees felt included – without compromising the integrity of the ceremony or setting.

The Outcome

The evening was a huge success, with glowing feedback from guests, clients, and on social media. We were especially proud to receive the following feedback:

Looking Ahead to 2025

Following the success of this year’s event, Primary has been confirmed as the delivery partner for the BREEAM Awards 2025, with an expanded remit that includes:

• Content planning and content delivery
• Enhanced set and stage design
• Second camera crew for interviews
• Trophy design and production
• Improvements to the event flow and delegate experience
